Adding pink streaks to hair?

I recently had a bad experience with getting my hair professionally dyed, so I am trying to stick to doing all hair dying myself. The next time I dye my hair, I want to go a dark brown with some pink streaks at the front (I have a fairly short hairstyle). Is there a way to do this at home for myself, or will getting it done professionally be necessary?

This is kinda hard to do by yourself, but I'll try to walk u thru it...First, choose a brown w/a golden or red base b/c blue, green, or violet bases won't complement your pink highlights. The quickest way to apply the dye is mixing a liquid dye w/cream developer in an applicator bottle and using your gloved hands to spread it evenly. Second, get a bleach/lightner with some type of oil additive, so that your hair doesn't become too dry. I recommend the bowl and brush technique for a more precise application. Third, you'll need to chose the pink dye you wish to use. I recommend that you use a semipermanent, like Manic Panic, so that as the pink fades, you can have fun and apply purple or blue to the bleached area. You'll need clips for the hair in the front that you plan on highlighing so that it doesn't get dyed brown by mistake and a BIG BOTTLE OF DEEP CONDITIONER FOR WEEKLY OR BI-WEEKLY TREATMENTS. Color your hair brown. The last 7-15 minutes of your brown hair taking, you should apply the bleach. (BE CAREFUL B/C YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE YOUR HAIR A LIL LIGHTER THE NEXT DAY. Time varies depending on your hair's natural color and porosity/dryness.) Wash out color and bleach and use your deep tx. The next day or two, make sure your bleach took well b/c if it's too yellow, you won't have a true pink, but if you bleach it too much your hair will fall out. Apply the pink color to DRY hair. you could do it at home. my mom died her hair brown with blond streaks. my mom did it with her friend so i suggest you as someone to help you.

well you can dye youre hair dark brown youre self but then you probably have to bleach the parts you want pink and then dye them. it's alot of work but hope it works out for you!

i done my own hair and it is pretty cool to. ya there is ways to do it at home because i don't go to professionally dyed so ya it and dying ur hair that color would would really be cool.

I would initially have this done in salon so they can do the placement properly and use the bleach safely for you. Have them only bleach up to slightly lighter than the pink you want. If you you bleach too light it will just lose the color faster. Because the pink will fade quickly you can purchase some direct color like Manic Panic at a beauty supply or Hot Topic. You can apply this weekly at home. This will color anything that it touches so be careful!
